It has pink flowers and, like P. murucuja, has an orange tube surrounding the androgynophore instead of the more usual filaments. Vigorous, glabrous vine. Tolerates heat well. Minimum temperature around 40 degrees F. |

Protea compacta 2.5" pot (Proteaceae ) A pink protea that is comparatively easy to grow. Long reddish-pink bracts surround a furry inner cone. Grow into a large shrub, but makes a good container plant as well. As with all Proteas, it does not tolerate chemical fertilizers. Flowers in the Autumn and Winter. Zone 9.
